under the wings of the Almighty

You shall have no other gods before Me.

He is the Lord God. Under His covering, in Christ,  we are protected from evil and safe. Without Him we can do nothing. He knows those who have accepted His gift of salvation and the death that He died for our sins. No greater gift exists. How blessed are those who have faith in Him and not in themselves.

Daniel 12:8 Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, “My lord, what shall be the end of these things?” 9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

Matthew 24:15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

Jesus Christ is  the gift of enough!

john 3:16-18

The gift of enough. We carry this capacity to honor the present into every encounter and relationship, meaning that we honor the dignity that is reflected by God’s goodness and grace—in very ordinary moments. Every encounter, every relationship, is a place to rediscover wonder... allowing us to be present. Yes, allowing us to include, invite mercy, encourage, receive, heal, reconcile, repair, say thank you, pray, celebrate, refuel, and to befriend our own heart.  Sabbath Moments

God knows you, and he is near you. See how these four words look taped to your bathroom mirror: “God is for me” (Psalm 56:9). And his kingdom needs you to discover and deploy your unique skill. The poor need you; the lonely need you; the church needs you; the cause of God needs you. Get the word out – God is with us; we are not alone! Max Lucado

Ezekiel 7:

16 ‘Those who survive will escape and be on the mountains

Like doves of the valleys,

All of them mourning,

Each for his iniquity.

19 ‘They will throw their silver into the streets,

And their gold will be like refuse;

Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them

In the day of the wrath of the Lord;

They will not satisfy their souls,

Nor fill their stomachs,

Because it became their stumbling block of iniquity

25 Destruction comes;

 They will seek peace,

 but there shall be none.

27 ‘The king will mourn,

The prince will be clothed with desolation,

And the hands of the common people will tremble.

I will do to them according to their way,

And according to what they deserve

I will judge them;

Then they shall know that I am the Lord!’ The New King James Version.

When disaster comes, the desire to survive overcomes that of keeping valuable possessions, especially heavy precious metals. In Isaiah’s description of the Day of Yahweh, the people throw away their idols of silver and gold (Isaiah 2:20).

The vision in this chapter takes Ezekiel through the temple to witness scenes of idolatry that his divine guide promises will escalate in severity. These abominations in the temple are Yahweh’s justification for rejecting Israel, removing His presence, and punishing His people. Faithlife Study Bible

No one goes to battle for Judah because the nation and land would be so devastated by death and diseases brought on by warfare and famine. Those left alive would hide in the hills and be characterized by four things: (1) mourning—moaning like doves in shame (2) weakness; (3) horror; and (4) disgust and disillusionment over wealth.

This section describes the judgment that would come on the people for taking the treasures of the temple to make pagan images. Beauty of his ornaments and My secret place both refer to Jerusalem and its temple. The people had sinned horribly when they crafted idols out of the temple treasures and then worshiped what their hands had made. The NKJV Study Bible

Sooner or later, sin will cause sorrow; and those who will not repent of their sin, may justly be left to pine away in it.

There are many whose wealth is their snare and ruin; and the gaining the world is the losing of their souls. Riches profit not in the day of wrath. The wealth of this world has not that in it which will answer the desires of the soul, or be any satisfaction to it in a day of distress. God’s temple shall stand them in no stead.

Those are unworthy to be honoured with the form of godliness, who will not be governed by its power.

Whoever break the bands of God’s law, will find themselves bound and held by the chains of his judgments. Since they encouraged one another to sin, God would dishearten them. All must needs be in trouble, when God comes to judge them according to their deserts.

May the Lord enable us to seek that good part which shall not be taken away. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Ezekiel 21:7

And it shall be when they say to you,

‘Why are you sighing?’ that you shall answer,

‘Because of the news; when it comes, every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water.

Behold, it is coming and shall be brought to pass,’ says the Lord GOD.”

Zephaniah 1:18

Neither their silver nor their gold

Shall be able to deliver them

In the day of the LORD’s wrath;

But the whole land shall be devoured

By the fire of His jealousy,

For He will make speedy riddance

Of all those who dwell in the land.
