In Christ is life, abundant and eternal. Jesus is the Savior of the world. There is no sin that cannot be forgiven except rejecting the Son of God. He came that the world through Him could be saved not condemned. Repentance from sin brings the restoration of life with and in God. We have peace with God through Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3 (ESV) "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."
God will keep you in perfect peace.
Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,
God has called us into honesty and godliness. He has called us into His holiness. We have certain security of God’s protection and nothing can touch us without His permission. He has given us into the care of Holy Spirit and we are set apart for His glory.
Brotherly love comes from God and those who love have found Him. We are to live quiet lives growing in grace and knowledge by studying the Word. God is in the still, small voice of Holy Spirit in our life.
Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
1 Samuel 8:5 6 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.
Narrow is the way to life and salvation and few find the peace and truth that it offers to mankind in Christ Jesus. Spiritual life brings peace.
God is changeless and eternal, the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
When we look to God for peace in the midst of all the chaos of life, we can rest assured that the One "who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:23) and that He is "able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20). We can surely trust Him. First 5
Before we figure life out, maybe we can just live it.
Before we seek to manage life, maybe we can just embrace it.
Before we seek to analyze life, maybe we can just savor the moments.
Before we seek to control life—nice and neat and tidy—maybe we can dance, embraced by the welcoming and healing and sustaining hands and arms of grace. Sabbath Moments
John 4:5-26
5 So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. 7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” 8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 9 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” 11 The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” 15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.” 19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” 21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” 25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” 26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” The New King James Version
The woman was surprised that Jesus would speak to her, much less ask her for a drink. Misunderstanding often comes before spiritual insight in John’s Gospel. The woman’s identification of Jacob as her ancestor shows the Samaritans believed themselves to be the rightful descendants of Jacob and true Israelites. She still misunderstands Jesus, believing they are talking about literal water. The woman’s answer seems intended to politely deflect further discussion of the subject.
Jesus does not take up the debate over legitimate holy places. Rather, he points to a future time of salvation when worship will not be limited to any local sacred site, neither Mount Gerizim nor Jerusalem. How one worships is more important than where one worships. In the Greek text, the word for “you” is plural. Jesus probably is alluding to the Jews’ preservation of the entire old testament Scriptures that revealed God’s plan for salvation. Also, the Messiah would be from the Jews, a son of David—not a Samaritan or Gentile.
A unique expression in the Gospel of John that conveys both future expectation and present reality. Jesus’ work in the present inaugurates a new phase in redemptive history. Authentic worship involves an inward change of heart, not just outward observance. Real followers of God worship in complete sincerity.
The Samaritans expected a deliverer called the taheb or “Returning One” who fulfilled the promise of a prophet like Moses. Jesus rarely confirms being the Messiah, probably due to expectations of political deliverance among Jews. The Samaritan concept of a Messiah was linked more to the restoration of proper worship of God. This is one of the “I am” sayings in John’s Gospel. Faithlife Study Bible
Jesus, of course, was talking about eternal life. The Samaritan woman did not comprehend Jesus’ spiritual message. She was thinking only of physical water and could not understand how Jesus could provide water without a means of drawing it, especially since the well was deep.
Because of what Jesus told her about herself, the woman concluded that Jesus Christ was a prophet, a person divinely inspired with supernatural knowledge.
Salvation is of the Jews means that the Messiah would come from the Jewish people.
God is Spirit … worship Him … in spirit and truth: God is not limited by time and space. When people are born of the Spirit, they can commune with God anywhere. Spirit is the opposite of what is material and earthly. Christ makes worship a matter of the heart. Truth is what is in harmony with the nature and will of God. It is the opposite of all that is false. Here the truth is specifically the worship of God through Jesus Christ. The issue is not where a person worships, but how and whom.
I … am He: Using the same words that God used when He revealed Himself to Moses Jesus clearly stated that He is the Messiah. The NKJV Study Bible
Jeremiah 2:13
“For My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.
John 6:35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
John 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
