2 Thessalonians 1:1-3 God's Sovereign Grace

Grace, God’s sovereign grace. God’s gift to mankind in the form of Jesus Christ. No greater love exists!

Jesus salvation has already forgiven you! That is sovereign grace!

Be kind, Be loving…His LOVE changes everything!

1 John 2:1 my little children (that is a statement of endearment) we have an advocate in the Father

Ephesians 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Walk in Love

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law

Colossians 3:13 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

We belong to one another is the liberating truth here. And if I take that to heart—it motivates, inspires and directs my choices... toward inclusion (not exclusion), toward empathy and mending and healing and compassion and tenderness.

Here’s to all the unseen acts of love that help the world go round today.

And we close with this today, from Maria Shriver, “Our lives are deeply connected to one another. My life is connected to you, and vice versa. Our lives take on meaning when we see and feel that connection. Our lives take on meaning when we are in service to others, when we know ourselves deeply, when we overcome things that scare us, and when we are able to triumph over situations that could have broken us...

Let’s agree that no one’s path is easy. Everyone needs support, understanding, guidance, forgiveness, and love. That’s why you are here. You help me, and I help you. I am here to be in community with you.” Sabbath Moments

Be a kind voice in this broken hearted world give grace and be ready to receive it. Listen so well than the person you’re with can rest in your attention for a moment.  Be a light. Be a light. Be a light. Nanea Hoffman

Like Job, you find peace in the pain. Like Job, you cover your mouth and sit still. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” A command with a promise. Be still. Cover your mouth. Bend your knees. And, as a result, you will know that I am God. So just be still. Be quiet, be open, be willing. Let God be God. Max Lucado

2 Thessalonians 1:1-3

1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, The New King James Version

The Thessalonian believers’ trust in God continued to grow despite persecution by nonbelievers. For this reason, Paul gives thanks to God. Faith is an answer to Paul’s prayer. Paul boasts about the Thessalonians because of the flourishing of their faith and love. For this reason, they serve as a model for other churches. Paul encourages the Thessalonians by reminding them that their situation is only temporary. Christ will return and reward them for their faithfulness while judging those who persecute them. Silvanus (Latin for Silas) had been Paul’s traveling companion ever since the start of the second missionary journey. He had participated in the founding of the church at Thessalonica. Timothy also was accompanying Paul on his second missionary journey. His report from the Thessalonian church had been the occasion for the writing of 1 Thessalonians To the church: The Greek word ekklesia means “gathering” or “assembly.” Even though the Thessalonians were experiencing persecution and were being infiltrated by false teachers, Paul still addresses them as an assembly in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Their troubled circumstances did not change their position before God. Paul’s salutation is similar to those in other ancient letters, but his expression is filled with spiritual meaning. Grace is the unmerited favor God gives to believers through Jesus Christ. Peace refers to the end of enmity between God and people. The Thessalonians could experience peace with God even during severe persecution. The faithfulness of the Thessalonian church in persecution gave Paul reason to praise God. Satan persecutes Christians in order to discourage and defeat them. These Christians had experienced persecution but continued to grow in Christ. Here the apostle praises God because the Thessalonians’ faith is growing exceedingly. They were growing beyond all natural expectation. Abounds pictures an expansive growth similar to the sudden surge of flood waters. The Thessalonians’ steadfast faith not only strengthened them to withstand difficult circumstances, it also motivated them to express genuine love for others. A Christian’s faith in Christ should always culminate in true love for others The NKJV Study Bible

Ephesians 5:20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

1 Thessalonians 1:1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy,To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
