Jesus, all God and all Man, had compassion and that empathy resulted in action. Should not we have the same mind if we are to be Christ-like?
Holy Spirit is our teacher and precept by precept will renew our thinking into the mind of Christ Jesus. He has the power to do what we cannot. He has healing in His wings.
In the same way burnt offerings in the Old Testament brought God pleasure, the New Testament describes Christ's sacrifice as a fragrant offering. (Ephesians 5:1-2) Our actions, demeanor and speech demonstrate Christ to those around us as we exude the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. When we offer our lives as a living sacrifice, we partner with Him and become a conduit of His love to others. Our faithful God uses our sacrifice for His glory. In this way, we, too, offer a pleasing aroma to the Lord. (2 Corinthians 2:15) First5
I agree with what Maria Shriver wrote this week, “And the more you are willing to get in touch with your pain and allow yourself to be vulnerable, the more your words can pierce or inspire another person’s soul. I tell stories for a living, and I believe we can heal ourselves through stories. I believe we grow through stories and can be inspired by them. I believe our own personal stories, the stories of others, and the stories of our country can all make a difference. Stories of love, hardship, anguish, pain, sacrifice and triumph can change lives.”
I’ll give Jen Lemen the last word, “Hold your heart in all tenderness. Something healing this way comes.” SabbathMoments
Fire is a chemical reaction that releases energy in the form of light and heat. If there is enough air, fuel, and heat, the fire will keep advancing. Can’t something similar be said about the Spirit of God? If we let him do his work, he will not be quenched.
Yet this flame is never intended for our harm. Everything that is good about a fire can be listed as a blessing of the Holy Spirit. Fire is a purifying force. The Holy Spirit is the ultimate purifier. Are we fit to serve as a temple of the Holy Spirit? We need the cleansing, sanctifying work of the Spirit of God to prepare us for this assignment.
Invite this refining fire to finish this work in your heart. “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16 NIV). Max Lucado
Mark 6:34
34 And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things. The New King James Version
A sheep without a shepherd was a common old testament expression used to describe Israel’s inadequate or oppressive leadership. Faithlife Study Bible
The Gospels record several times that when Jesus saw a need He was moved with compassion. That compassion led to action. The NKJV Study Bible
Christ came into the world, not only to restore, but to preserve and nourish spiritual life; in him there is enough for all that come. None are sent empty away from Christ but those who come to him full of themselves. Though Christ had bread enough at command, he teaches us not to waste any of God’s bounties, remembering how many are in want. We may, some time, need the fragments that we now throw away. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary
Numbers 27:17 who may go out before them and go in before them, who may lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be like sheep which have no shepherd.”
1 Kings 22:17 Then he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.’ ”
Isaiah 48:17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,The Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God,Who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.
Luke 9:11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.
