There will always be those that question your faith. let the light of God shine through you, in the love you show, that they may seek what you have.
Christ did what no one else could. He took on the sins of the world, conquering sin and death. He did not leave us alone but gave us Holy Spirit to witness to us and reside within us to shine the light of truth into the world.
The redemptive work of Christ is done outside of us and cannot be undone. It has nothing to do with us. The work of Holy Spirit is within us to change us into the image of God’s beloved Son.
God sees the blood of Jesus when He sees us and He remembers our sins no more.
Trust the Cross to do what you are incapable of doing!
In the Holocaust Museum there is a story about an exchange in a concentration camp on the Day of Liberation (1945). The prisoners still alive in concentration camps were being set free. A young American Lieutenant, extraordinarily moved by the bleak and foreboding nature of the setting, asked one prisoner to show him the camp. As they approached a building, the lieutenant opened a door for the young woman, and she collapsed in tears. Certain he had offended, he did his best to comfort her. After some time, she told him, "I am weeping because it is the first time in years that someone has done anything kind for me. Thank you.”
Yes, with one simple gesture of kindness, a lamp is lit.
Let me repeat... one simple, ordinary gesture. SabbathMoments
Anointing oil is a metaphor for the Spirit of God. “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts…” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NIV).
God poured out upon you the power-providing, heart-healing oil of the Holy Spirit.
The verb pour deserves to be highlighted. God does not distribute the Spirit with an eyedropper or a tablespoon. He douses us with himself. Do you understand what happened on the day of your conversion? Yes, grace covered you. Yes, the tent of God’s sovereignty was stretched over you. Yes, the pathway to heaven was laid out before you. And yes, you were anointed by the Holy Spirit. You have been consecrated for a holy work. Max Lucado
Mark 3:20-21
20 Then the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. 21 But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.” The New King James Version
Despite Jesus’ growing fame, He receives a mixed reception from the religious leaders and even His own family. Faithlife Study Bible
Opposition to Jesus came not only from His enemies. Jesus’ own people, no doubt close friends and perhaps even relatives, heard of His teaching and assumed that He was out of His mind. The NKJV Study Bible
Those who go on with zeal in the work of God, must expect hinderances, both from the hatred of enemies, and mistaken affections of friends, and need to guard against both. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary
Mark 6:3 Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.
John 7:5 For even His brothers did not believe in Him.
