In others suffering we often do not know the right thing too say. we want to respect them and honor God. In those times I pray for Holy Spirit to direct my answers. God’s love for us is beyond our human understanding!
Jesus said to celebrate with others in the good times but also to weep with those who are suffering. He was filled with compassion.
The shortest verse in Scripture is John11:35 ‘Jesus wept.’
He wept at the overwhelming sorrow of Mary and Martha when their brother passed. He felt their pain, even knowing that in a matter of minutes He would raise Lazarus, their brother, from the dead.
The actions of others often does not reflect the righteousness of the Father.
God understands we are mere humans! We will never know how He protected us from the evil that exists until He calls us to be with Him.
The daughters of Zelophehad hoped to preserve their family name after their father's death, and Moses, nearing the end of his life, wanted to ensure continued leadership for the Israelites so they would make it into the promised land.
The story of Zelophehad's five daughters pleading to inherit their father's land is significant because it didn't just change their personal situation; it affected the rules of land inheritance for all of Israel. Historically, a deceased man's land and possessions were passed on to his closest male relative if he had no sons, so the daughters presented their concern that Zelophehad's name would be "taken away from his clan" when his land passed out of his family and into the hands of a male relative (Numbers 27:4). In that day, women did not typically approach the nation's leadership; their actions demonstrated courage and faith.
Showing wisdom and humility, Moses didn't take it upon himself to answer but rather sought the Lord's direction. God's response, full of grace and authority, included three key components: God validated the daughters' argument, granted their request to possess their father's land and set a new precedent for inheritance conditions for men who died without sons. The daughters' courageous request became a part of their legacy because it impacted not only an entire nation but also generations after them. First5
We are invited to make our wounds into sacred wounds. If we cannot, we invariably become cynical, negative, or bitter. This much is true; if we do not transform our pain, we will most assuredly transmit it—usually to those closest to us: our family, our neighbors, our co-workers, and, invariably, the most vulnerable, our children.
Things do not always go the way we plan. Not that we don't try. Somehow, well made plans make us feel better. More presentable. Even acceptable.
Then life happens. And life turns left. Things—plans, dreams, relationships—can, and do, break. Sometimes even shatter.
And hearts can be broken. …God is alive and well in all things.
Even in the broken glass.
Fate, not God, sends us the problem. When we try to deal with it, we find out that we are not strong. We discover that we are weak; we get tired, we get angry, overwhelmed… But when we reach the limits of our own strength and courage, something unexpected happens. We find reinforcement coming from a source outside of ourselves. And in the knowledge, that we are not alone, that God is on our side, we manage to go on… (When Bad Things Happen to Good People, Rabbi Harold Kushner) And you discover people around you, and God beside you, and strength within you to help you survive.
Thank God, I have friends. They carry the weight and the freight. They hold my hand. And I trust them. That’s a big deal. Because I learned early in my life, not to trust. This isn’t a cathartic therapy session. But it’s important to fess up from time to time. To know what our trigger points are… It’s all a part of that handsome mixture. SabbathMoments
