Mark 2:21-22

When we are being led by Holy Spirit our old ways of doing things no longer work. In the renewing of our mind and the new heart placed inside of us we may feel disoriented and isolated. The more control that we give to Him in our life will determine how fast the growth…some of us are slow learners!

Our new self, in Jesus will be molded and shaped, precept by precept, into the ways of Christ.

Mark 2:21-22

21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.” The New King James Version

Jesus emphasizes the change brought about by the kingdom’s arrival. While the previous analogy contrasted present and future, this verse distinguishes between old and new. Faithlife Study Bible

Mark records only four of Jesus’ parables—two of which he includes here. The comparison implies that the newness of His message, and of the new covenant to follow, cannot fit into the old molds of Judaism. The Old Testament was preparation for the New Testament. The NKJV Study Bible

Luke 5:37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined.

John 6:27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
