John 13:16-17

Faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is LOVE.

In the love given to you be a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Micah 6:8

Treat everyone equally, there is no Greek nor Jew, Male or Female, Slave or Free, in His Kingdom.

Forgive others just as God forgave you.

Always remember that salvation is nothing to do with you but everything to do with Jesus and His finished work on the Cross.

Love God above all and others as much as you do yourself and your family and Holy Spirit will do the rest.

John 13:16-17

16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. The New King James Version

Jesus is doing the work of a slave. He now suggests that His disciples do the same in service to others. Jesus is also likely evoking imagery from the prophecies about the Suffering Servant. He becomes a servant to God and to others to fulfill His role as the one who (through His death and resurrection) restores God’s people into right relationship with Him.

He now calls His disciples to sacrifice themselves for the purposes of God. This is a vocation Paul clearly understood: He regularly called himself a slave of Christ.

John the Baptist was God’s messenger about Jesus, and Jesus’ disciples will continue to be God’s messengers to the world. Jesus wants them to understand their role in this service. They should be humbled by it in the sense that they are not equal to Him in any way and that He—the very Son of God to whom the universe belongs—will empower them for this work. Matthew 7:24Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

Matthew 7:25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

Luke 11:28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

James 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
