God will not allow His children to place anything above His love for them. Holy Spirit will convict us and direct us back to the One who gave up His life for us…Jesus Christ. Without him we would be helpless to overcome sin.
There is no peace in our lives without God.
How do we know the difference between the flesh and the Spirit?
The flesh leads to death and chaos. The Spirit leads to life. (Romans 8:6; Romans 8:11)
The flesh chooses sin and selfishness. The Spirit chooses righteousness and serving others. (Romans 8:10)
It's the Spirit who enables us to have minds governed by life and peace. (Romans 8:6)
It's the Spirit who enables us to obey God. (Romans 8:3-4)
“Lord, make me a candle
of comfort in this world
let me burn with peace”
John Roedel
Hosea 9:10-11
10 “I found Israel Like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers As the firstfruits on the fig tree in its first season. But they went to Baal Peor, And separated themselves to that shame; They became an abomination like the thing they loved. The New King James Version
Baal Peor refers to an occasion during the exodus when Israel committed idolatry. Faithlife Study Bible
At the beginning of Israel’s history, God found great delight in His people. Grapes in the wilderness would be a pleasant surprise; the firstfruits on the fig tree were an irresistible delicacy However, Israel had quickly fallen into sin. At Baal Peor the Israelites had participated in fertility rites with Moabite women, bringing God’s judgment down upon the nation.
Their glory refers to Ephraim’s (Israel’s) population, especially its children. Ephraim’s population would dwindle as its women became barren. The punishment would be appropriate because this generation of Israelites, like an earlier generation at Baal Peor, promoted fertility by worshiping Baal. The NKJV Study Bible
The people were become as corrupt as those of Gibeah, and their crimes should be visited in like manner. At first God had found Israel pleasing to Him, as grapes to the traveller in the wilderness. He saw them with pleasure as the first ripe figs. This shows the delight God took in them; yet they followed after idolatry. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Micah 7:1 Woe is me! For I am like those who gather summer fruits, like those who glean vintage grapes; there is no cluster to eat of the first-ripe fruit which my soul desires.
