Ezekiel 21:1-7

There will come a day of  judgement. Only God’s mercy and long suffering prolong that day. He wants no one to perish but all to welcome Him into their life.

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Holy is He! God did not leave us without hope He gave us Holy Spirit to guide and protect us here on earth.

I Corinthians 3:11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Luke 3:16 John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Ephesians 4:1-3 reminds us to "walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." First5

Ezekiel 21:1-7

21 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, preach against the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel; 3 and say to the land of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I am against you, and I will draw My sword out of its sheath and cut off both righteous and wicked from you. 4 Because I will cut off both righteous and wicked from you, therefore My sword shall go out of its sheath against all flesh from south to north, 5 that all flesh may know that I, the Lord, have drawn My sword out of its sheath; it shall not return anymore.” ’ 6 Sigh therefore, son of man, with a breaking heart, and sigh with bitterness before their eyes. 7 And it shall be when they say to you, ‘Why are you sighing?’ that you shall answer, ‘Because of the news; when it comes, every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it is coming and shall be brought to pass,’ says the Lord God.” The New King James Version

The Hebrew word used here for the sanctuaries, miqdash, is usually singular and refers to the Jerusalem temple; however, in this verse it is plural in most Hebrew manuscripts. If the plural was intended, Ezekiel likely is pronouncing judgment on the many local shrines used for idol worship in the area. Alternatively, the text could be “their sanctuary,” as read by the Syriac ot and a few Hebrew manuscripts.

The righteous and the wicked is a figure of speech (called a merism) indicating judgment against everyone. The judgment by sword follows the pattern of judgment by fire. From north to south refers to the coming judgment, the Day of Yahweh. Ezekiel is outwardly mourning for events that have not yet occurred. Faithlife Study Bible

This pairing go righteous and wicked shows that God was going to allow the dreadful temporal consequences of sin to affect everyone in the land, both faithful and unfaithful. A breaking heart translates words that literally mean “breaking loins,” suggesting great emotional upheaval. The NKJV Study Bible

It is declared that the Lord was about to cut off Jerusalem and the whole land, that all might know it was his decree against a wicked and rebellious people. It behoves those who denounce the awful wrath of God against sinners, to show that they do not desire the woful day. The example of Christ teaches us to lament over those whose ruin we declare. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Ezekiel 20:47 and say to the forest of the South, ‘Hear the word of the LORD! Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree and every dry tree in you; the blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be scorched by it.
