The Tree Church

Pastor Matthew Johnson

Lift your eyes to see

He is better than you dreamed

Love’s returning!

Jehovah Jireh

You are enough!!!!!

Something is anchoring you…I want it to be JESUS.

Anchored…Everyone is anchored to something.

Do we believe what Jesus said? We look at the word of Jesus and choose to believe Him. It requires faith. The truth was so real to the disciples of Jesus that they were willing to sacrifice their life for their beliefs. Do we have that faith? It is your choice.

Our culture has created a level of chaos. Every thought we have can be challenged. Some are so detached from reality that we wonder what world do they live in. Foundational beliefs that were once not politicized now and if we disagree we are labeled. It created an aura of cancel culture.

Especially in these times we need a firm anchor…it is Christ and His Holy Spirit that will guide plant us.

Our family is the first anchor we know. Your community, the city, the state that you live in, the faith in which you were raised they all contribute to your emotional anchor.

Now all that is being challenged.

Education brought with it growth to our understanding of what is truth. In so doing people started pushing against the norms. Some rejected God because He could not be physically seen. In America we started to embrace thinking outside the box. Nothing was an absolute. In post modern culture we started to evaluate every single thing. Every broken element of culture was traced back to an ideology. Culture now says that we are our own anchor. Our personal identity and beliefs form our world. Culture, through ads, tv shows, blogs, every information that you take in you must sort through and decide how must weight you give it in your life. It seems that every generation learns and adapts to their culture.

Scientific law is a theory until it is proved or disproved.

We have lost our only true anchor to guide us…Jesus Christ.

Culture has so much to say about our life…it says that we have to be busy at all time. In our culture busy says you are successful. It has something to say about our finance, our marriages and how we raise our children.

The oddities of our culture now are overwhelming, It leaves us vulnerable to every thought there is.

As you think about life what do you want?

What do you want?

I think we can all say that we all want a full life.

John 10

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 14

16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

There are no other anchors. No other pathways. The pursuit of Jesus is the only way. He was God in the flesh. He provided the way. Where sin cut us off from God, Jesus restored by taking our sin on His body making a way where there was no way. What the world has to offer us is their best guess. Jesus offers us the perfect truth.

John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.

Matthew 7:

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

John 14:

5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
