Luke 11:33-36

May the light He placed in us so shine that when others see it they are drawn to Him!

Lara, a Pastor at Life Church Vineyard, sent me a link to daily devotional on the Lectio 365 app this morning. The crux of it was PRAY. The power of praying is so important. Rejoicing in our salvation is our joy and He promises that in our asking He will make a way for us. Yielding to Christ within, Holy Spirit, allows us to receive direction in our everyday, ordinary lives and to get us safely home!!!

What an almighty God we serve.

Pray

Rejoice

Ask

Yield

John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God ." John 1:14 clarifies even further that "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

In the Old Testament, there were three offices of leadership that led the people of God: prophet, priest and king. However, everyone in the Old Testament who held these offices did so imperfectly. The reality of these imperfections created an even deeper anticipation for the promised Messiah who would eventually hold all three offices, but in complete perfection. First5

Luke 11:33-36

33 “No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light. 34 The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35 Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. 36 If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light. The New King James Version

Light and darkness are often used as metaphors for the spiritual condition. Faithlife Study Bible

It has been said that “you are what you eat.” But even more accurately, you are what you see. This is why David said, “I will set nothing wicked before my eyes” (Psalm 101:3). A person who concentrates on what is good (God’s teaching) is healthy. But a person who focuses on what is bad (the false teaching of the world) is full of darkness. A person can become like light, a living picture of what God’s Word teaches, by concentrating on the light of the truth. The NKJV Study Bible

We should pray without ceasing that our hearts and understandings may be opened, that we may profit by the light we enjoy. And especially take heed that the light which is in us be not darkness; for if our leading principles be wrong, our judgment and practice must become more so. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Psalm 101:3-4 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me. 4 A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness.
