John 12: 9-11

Now we see situations through a lens of our culture. Holy Spirit knows the whole truth.

God knows the darkness that lives in the heart of man. Although we can be deceived by the doctrines and traditions of man  the Body of Christ will never be deceived in the truth of Jesus. He did not leave us alone He gave us Holy Spirit to show us the truth and if we allow Him He will change us from the inside out.

In Jesus we are raised from the dead.

We must be very careful not to call good evil nor evil good. Discernment comes at a cost. Only Holy Spirit can guide and correct us in the ways of His Son.

The Bible makes more than a hundred references to the Holy Spirit.  Jesus said more about the Holy Spirit than he did about the church or marriage. The Holy Spirit is central to the life of the Christian.  Everything from Acts to Revelation is a result of the work of the Holy Spirit.  The Spirit came alongside the disciples, indwelled them, and gave the early church the push they needed to face the challenges ahead. After Jesus ascended into heaven, the Holy Spirit became the primary agent of the Trinity on earth.  He will complete what was begun by the Father and the Son. “Keep in step with the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25). He directs and leads; you must obey and follow. Max Lucado

The plot to kill Lazarus

John 12: 9-11

9 Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. 10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, 11 because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus. The New King James Version

The raising of Lazarus had become the pinnacle of Jesus’ miraculous work. Faithlife Study Bible

The chief priests were mostly Sadducees. They had an additional reason to kill Lazarus. He was a living refutation of their doctrine that there was no resurrection. Yet this was not a meeting of the Jewish council, nor was it a formal sentence of death. The ultimate motivation for wanting to kill Lazarus was that because of him many were believing in Jesus. Went away implies that these individuals were withdrawing from the Jewish leaders. The NKJV Study Bible

To consult to hinder the further effect of the miracle, by putting Lazarus to death, is such wickedness, malice, and folly, as cannot be explained, except by the desperate enmity of the human heart against God. They resolved that the man should die whom the Lord had raised to life. The success of the gospel often makes wicked men so angry, that they speak and act as if they hoped to obtain a victory over the Almighty himself. Matthew Henry Commentary.

Luke 16:31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ”

John 11:43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”

John 11:44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

John 11:45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.
