Those who do not take care of their own family? Worse off than those who do not believe! Scary thought. Love God above all.
Love is an action word not an emotion. Honor your parents. Care for your family. Take care of those in need. The world will know us by our works done in love. Faith without action is a dead faith!
Paul’s statement here suggests that even unbelievers—those without faith in Christ and the Spirit of God—support those in their household. Faithlife Bible.
A believer is to provide for his own (his near relatives) and his household (his immediate family). Failure to provide for one’s family is equal to denial of the faith. If a Christian cannot even care for his or her own family, how can that person sincerely love and care for others? Some unbelievers take better care of their families than believers do. NKJ Bible.
1 Timothy 5:8
8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Isaiah 58:7 | Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
2 Corinthians 12:14 | Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
Galatians 6:10 | Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
