John 9:18-23

We must base every decision we make on the Word of God. Nothing, not even the institutional Church, is above His Word. NOTHING. We will be
persecuted for standing up for what He says in scripture but we must care more about Him and His righteousness than the traditions of man.

His Body, the Church, consist of those who believe in Him and whose lives reflect His teachings.

The Jews were earlier identified as the Pharisees. His parents are trying to excuse themselves from further inquiry by disclaiming legal responsibility for their son.Tantamount to being excluded from the community. The synagogue was the community gathering place. Faithlife Bible.

To be put out of the synagogue was to be excommunicated. The Jews had three types of excommunication: one lasting 30 days, during which the person could not come within six feet of anybody else; one for an indefinite time, during which the person was excluded from all fellowship and worship; and one that meant absolute expulsion forever. These judgments were very serious because no one could conduct business with a person who was excommunicated. NKJ Bible.

John 9:18–23 (NKJV)
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight. 19 And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”

20 His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; 21 but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”

22 His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”

John 7:13 (NKJV)
13 However, no one spoke openly of Him for fear of the Jews. The parents are trying to excuse themselves from further inquiry by disclaiming legal responsibility for their son.

John 16:2 (NKJV)
They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.

John 19:38 (NKJV)

38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus.
