Hosea 2:19–23 He will call us but we get to choose

Our God is merciful and kind. He doesn’t want anyone to live without Him  He wants us to come to Him willingly out of love for Him. He does not force us into relationship with Him. He loves us enough that He gave us Jesus to die for our sins to destroy once and for all the veil of sin that separated us.

He wants us to choose Him.

In Jesus He provided everything needed for salvation. we get to choose life!

Hosea 6:6

For I desire mercy and not sacrifice,

And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

A New Covenant relationship with repentant Israel.

Hosea 2:19–23

19 “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy; 20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord. 21 “It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth. 22 The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel. 23 Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’ ” The New King James Version

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:22-23 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

This world as we know it will pass but nothing will compare to what God has prepared  for those who love Him and are called according to His plans. The temptations of life are inevitable but greater is He in us than he that is in the world.

our future is forever. It is the will of God that we will be with Him for eternity and it will be perfect. Eye has not seen nor has ear heard what God has prepared for those who love Him. In this life there  will be those who proclaim to know the truth other than in Christ but do not be deceived. There is only one way to the Father. It is in person Jesus. All God and all man He is the only way, the very truth of God and life to all who believe in Him.

Genesis 3:4-7 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

When mankind became aware of good and evil free choice became a battle of the flesh and the Spirit. Innocence was taken away.

Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Jesus was tempted but conquered it by the word of God. He was offered the Kingdom of the world without the suffering of the Cross but refused and chose God’s will in offering up His life for ours.

1 Corinthians 10:13 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Temptations will come BUT God is faithful  and will provide us a way to escape. Carla

The four virtues listed in this verse, combined with the faithfulness mentioned in Hosea 2:20, form the essence of Yahweh’s character. Biblical writers frequently mention these virtues together. In the book of Jeremiah, the imagery of restoration is developed further.

Jezebel meaning “God will sow”; was the symbolic name of Hosea’s first child.

Earlier, the name “Jezreel” telegraphed disaster and destruction. Now, the image is positive: God will plant and rebuild Israel. You are My people reverses the earlier repudiation of the covenant formula. Faithlife Study Bible

Betrothal was a binding commitment, the last step before the wedding and consummation. The Lord emphasized that the new marriage between Himself and Israel would be permanent. Lovingkindness means “devotion, commitment.” Israel would respond positively to the Lord’s love and acknowledge that He is her husband and benefactor. The heavens would provide rain for the earth; the earth would produce its fruit in turn. Israel is called Jezreel, meaning “God Plants,” because the Lord would replant Israel in the land. Romans 9:25–26

As He says also in Hosea

“I will call them My people, who were not My people,

And her beloved, who was not beloved.”

“And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them,

‘You are not My people,’

There they shall be called sons of the living God.”

1 Peter 2:10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

Hosea 1:6–7

And she conceived again and bore a daughter.

Then God said to him:“Call her name Lo-Ruhamah,

For I will no longer have mercy on the house of Israel,

But I will utterly take them away.

Yet I will have mercy on the house of Judah,

Will save them by the LORD their God,

And will not save them by bow,

Nor by sword or battle,

By horses or horsemen.”

Zechariah 8:12

‘For the seed shall be prosperous,

The vine shall give its fruit,The ground shall give her increase,

And the heavens shall give their dew—

I will cause the remnant of this people

To possess all these.

"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband" (Revelation 21:1-2, CSB, emphases added).

"Then he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the city's main street. The tree of life was on each side of the river, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations, and there will no longer be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads" (Revelation 22:1-4, CSB, emphases added). First5

Sometimes, without even knowing it...

We need times and places to decompress.
We need times and places to live quietly.
We need times and places to let our soul catch up.
We need times and places just for fishing.
