Mark 1:29-31

We took Timmy to his DR. to get a covid test this morning he had not been feeling well for the past 2 days. Thank you Father that it was negative. It seems that when your immune system is lowered you are more susceptible to reacting to your flu shot. So very thankful for God’s compassion.

  Jesus heals!

What if, even in the midst, this life can be the source of joy, wonder, curiosity, well-being and grace?

What if, even in the midst, this life can be an invitation to both humility and empathy?

Can we affirm that we live in a world where we care for, and let ourselves be cared for? Because no one is on this journey alone. More than ever, we need the reminder. Terry Hershey "Sabbath Moments"

Mark 1:29-31

29 Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. 31 So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them.

The Greek term used here, egeirō, is used frequently throughout Mark to describe Jesus healings: a dead girl, an epileptic. Mark uses the same verb to describe the resurrection of the dead. This overlap connects Jesus’ resurrection with His ministry; His divine power and purpose enable both. Faithlife Bible.

Jesus completely healed Simon Peter’s mother-in-law. Not only did the fever leave, but her strength was renewed so that she served Jesus and His followers. NKKJ Bible.

Wherever Christ comes, he comes to do good. He cures, that we may minister to him, and to others who are his, and for his sake. Those kept from public ordinances by sickness or other real hinderances, may expect the Saviour’s gracious presence; he will soothe their sorrows, and abate their pains. Matthew Henry Commentary.

Matthew 8:14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.

Matthew 8:15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.

Luke 4:38 Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her.

Luke 4:39 So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.
