Psalm 150

In all things give God praise. He is worthy to be praised and lifted up among all people, tribes and nations! It is not our power but His that gives breath to all of creation.

Let every breath we take give praise!

The gift of peace is about the freedom to be at home in our own skin. To let grace, take root. And here’s the good part: we can let the freedom of that peace spill in a world that desperately needs rest and sanctuary. We give it away…Sabbath Moments

Habakkuk 1:11 (ESV) "Then they sweep by like the wind and go on, guilty men, whose own might is their god!

PSALM 150

Let All Things Praise the Lord

1 Praise  the Lord!

Praise God in His sanctuary;

Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;

Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;

Praise Him with the lute and harp!

4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;

Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!

5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;

Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord!

The Hebrew exhortation used here, halluhu (commonly translated “praise him”), occurs nine times in Psalm 150. The Hebrew word used here, raqia', also occurs in Genesis 1:6 to describe the vaulted dome that separates the waters above from the waters below. The psalmist may be envisioning praise from both earth and heaven.

The list of musical instruments  here has a cumulative effect, which culminates in the call for everything to praise Yahweh.

Everything that can breathe is called upon to praise Yahweh. Faithlife Bible.

The intent is for praise to come to God in His dwelling in heaven.

The varied instruments in this section include horns, reeds, strings, and percussion, encompassing many of the instruments known in Israel at that time.

The very breath that God gives us should be used to praise Him. As long as we live we should praise our Creator. By His breath God created all things, and by our breath we should adore Him. The Book of Psalms begins with God’s blessing on the righteous and concludes with all of creation blessing its loving Creator. NKJ Bible.

We are here stirred up to praise God. Praise God for his sanctuary, and the privileges we enjoy by having it among us; praise him because of his power and glory in the firmament. Those who praise the Lord in heaven, behold displays of his power and glory which we cannot now conceive. But the greatest of all his mighty acts is known in his earthly sanctuary. The holiness and the love of our God are more displayed in man’s redemption, than in all his other works.

Praise God with strong faith; praise him with holy love and delight; praise him with entire confidence in Christ; praise him with believing triumph over the powers of darkness; praise him by universal respect to all his commands; praise him by cheerful submission to all his disposals; praise him by rejoicing in his love, and comforting ourselves in his goodness; praise him by promoting the interests of the kingdom of his grace; praise him by lively hope and expectation of the kingdom of his glory.

Since we must shortly breathe our last, while we have breath let us praise the Lord; then we shall breathe our last with comfort. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Matthew Henry Commentary.

Genesis 1:6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

Deuteronomy 3:24 ‘O Lord GOD, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do anything like Your works and Your mighty deeds?
