Nahum 2:9-11

Holy Spirit has warned me of the upcoming upheavals in the United States for the past 3 years. We are in dire straits and have lost our way. As a nation we must repent of our pride, asking forgiveness for the oppression of the poor and the racism that exists. Many do not want to hear this message. Many are consumed with the arrogance that is being bannered about by this administration. Change is coming. The oppressed black race will rise! Do you honestly think that God’s hand is not in this?

Wake up America before it is too late!

Nahum 2: 9-11
9 Take spoil of silver!
Take spoil of gold!
There is no end of treasure,
Or wealth of every desirable prize.
10 She is empty, desolate, and waste!
The heart melts, and the knees shake;
Much pain is in every side,
And all their faces are drained of color.
11 Where is the dwelling of the lions,
And the feeding place of the young lions,
Where the lion walked, the lioness and lion’s cub,
And no one made them afraid?

Verse 11 is a taunt song, a derogatory proverbial chant against an object of scorn and ridicule. The taunt mocks Assyria the once mighty predator of the ancient Near East is now the prey. These large, fast, powerful cats are found throughout the ancient Near East. The lion motif is particularly fitting for Assyria; many reliefs discovered on walls and palaces depict Assyrian kings holding lions in their arms or engaging in lion hunts. This verse uses four different Hebrew words for lions.  Faithlife Bible.

Nineveh was the city of lions. Yet despite all the horrors that the lion of Nineveh had brought to other nations, it would no longer need to be feared by anyone. NKJ Bible.

Genesis 49:9 | Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; and as a lion, who shall rouse him?

Job 4:10 | The roaring of the lion, the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions are broken.

Job 4:11 | The old lion perishes for lack of prey, and the cubs of the lioness are scattered.

Isaiah 5:29 | Their roaring will be like a lion, they will roar like young lions; yes, they will roar and lay hold of the prey; they will carry it away safely, and no one will deliver.

Daniel 5:6 | Then the king’s countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened and his knees knocked against each other.
