Luke 12:1-3

We cannot proclaim Christ in the Church and act like heathens outside of her doors. Although no one can attain fully to the righteousness of Christ, at the very least, we should think before we act and question if we are showing His love and caring for ALL creation.

Our actions should reflect the example He gives us in His Word not necessarily views of the religious right.

hypocrisy |həˈpäkrəsē|

noun (pl. hypocrisies)

the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.

Leaven here represents the presence of corruption. Unleavened bread is what the Jews ate at Passover. The corruption in view here is hypocrisy. Practicing hypocrisy is senseless because eventually all deeds—both good and evil—will be exposed.

Luke 12:1-3

12 In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ² For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. ³ Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

⁶ Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.” 

Matthew 16:6

¹⁵ Then He charged them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” 

Mark 8:15

¹² Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees. 

Matthew 16:12

³⁹ Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness. 

Luke 11:39

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.
