Luke 11:28

Being a Christian is not about being able to hear God it is about doing what we hear. It is not only about keeping our beliefs in our hearts but about living out our beliefs for the world to see. It is not about knowing the right thing to do but about doing it.

It is easy to allow traditional practices to take the place of the authority of the Scriptures. Jesus offers His blessing to those who respond concretely to God’s will as expressed in the Bible.

The Israelites let their lamps burn all night, since light made them feel safer. We are told that the family would rather go without food than let their lamps go out, since that indicated that they had deserted their house. The writer of Proverbs praises the prudent wife, saying, “Her lamp does not go out by night”. Several other Bible passages show that the lamp symbolized the life and dignity of a family.

Luke 11:28
28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

2Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!
Psalm 119:2

17Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.
Isaiah 48:17

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, r‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Matthew 7:21

21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
Luke 8:21

25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:25
