Isaiah 2:11-12
The lofty looks of man shall be humbled,
The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down,
And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.
For the day of the Lord of hosts
Shall come upon everything proud and lofty,
Upon everything lifted up—
And it shall be brought low—
let’s talk about our neighbors. You know, everyone we meet, every single person on this planet, is our neighbor! Isn’t that amazing? We’re invited into this incredible Kingdom of grace and mercy, created by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And this Kingdom will never end!
Romans 15:8-13 Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers, and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy, as it is written:
“For this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles,
And sing to Your name.”
And again he says:
“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!”
And again:
“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!
Laud Him, all you peoples!”
And again, Isaiah says:
“There shall be a root of Jesse;
And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles,
In Him the Gentiles shall hope.”
Jesus is still the one who cares for the Jewish people, the chosen nation of Abraham. The twelve tribes of Israel, who are descendants of Jacob, are under God’s protection as they followed His rules. If they disobey, He’ll correct them, but there will always be a remnant who completely trust Him and obey His commands. They’ll be the most important people in the world and the priests of the highest God. God is in charge, and His promises are never broken.
2 Samuel 7:12-16 “When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”
Even after David’s passing, God had planted the seeds that would eventually bring His Kingdom to Earth. They may face trials when they stray, but His unwavering mercy will never abandon them. Jesus was the firstborn of the fulfillment of His promises. Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. In Him lies the royal lineage that will rule forever in truth, justice, and peace. As adopted sons and daughters, we will share in the glory of His boundless mercy and grace.
Psalm 2:1-7
Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure
“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”
“I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
Why do people hate the Jews? It’s a shame because they reject the very idea of God, who created the world. Only through God’s mercy and in the power of Holy Spirit can we understand the truth of Jesus and the salvation He offers to everyone who accepts Him. When sin is present, God’s grace grows, and He wants no one to live forever without Him.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Carla
Jesus also characterized Himself as a servant (Matthew 20:28), and as we surrender our lives to Him, we model His heart of humility.
So what exactly does it look like to be a good servant of Jesus? First, Paul advised Timothy to cling to the Truth of Scripture (1 Timothy 4:6-7). After already warning about false teachings earlier in his letter (1 Timothy 1:3), Paul restated that the best way to combat lies is with the true gospel.
In 1 Timothy 4:10, Paul continued his metaphor of a hardworking servant by describing the gospel-centered life as one of "toil and striving, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. First 5
