Isaiah 49:25-26 our battles are spiritual

 Jesus fights our battles. The battles that we encounter are spiritual and He has already won the fight. He can do everything that we cannot!! We abide in Him and in Him is peace.

Colossians 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

 Jesus is above all principalities.  No one had been resurrected from the dead until Jesus. That in all things He is above  because it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell. The Son of God, created all things and all things were created for him!

Jesus Christ is the physical manifestation of the triune Godhead. The Word of God made  flesh.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

We get to choose the lens through which we invite life in. Yes, the permission to wake up, remembering that our well-being is not at the mercy of life’s heaviness or happenings. Sabbath Moments

It’s about resetting the scales that we use to weigh and measure what is important. What is of value. What is life-giving.  It pays to remember that not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts. (Quote attributed to William Cameron.)

In Matthew 1:23, God called himself Immanuel, which means “God with us.” Not just “God made us.” Not just “God thinks about us.” Not just “God above us.” But God with us. God where we are. He breathed our air and walked this earth. God…with…us!  I love Christmas because it reminds us how “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God” (Roman 8:28). Isaiah 49:25-26

25 But thus says the Lord: “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away,

And the prey of the terrible be delivered;

For I will contend with him who contends with you,

And I will save your children.

26 I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh,

And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine.

All flesh shall know That I, the Lord, am your Savior,

And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

The New King James Version

We were lawful captives to the justice of God, yet delivered by a price of unspeakable value. Here is an express promise: Even the prey of the terrible shall be delivered. We may here view Satan deprived of his prey, bound and cast into the pit; and all the powers that have combined to enslave, persecute, or corrupt the church, are destroyed; that all the earth may know that our Saviour and Redeemer is Jehovah, the mighty One of Jacob. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Israel asks rhetorically: Shall the prey—captive Israel—be taken from the mighty—Babylon?

Apparently Israel expects a negative answer to this question, but the Lord responds affirmatively. He would contend with the mighty, terrible Babylon and free His people.

I, the Lord … Mighty One of Jacob: The last couplet is a celebration of the name and character of the living God. The Almighty asserts that He is the One who can powerfully save His people. The NKJV Study Bible

Returning from exile or imprisonment in the ancient world was unusual; it was rare for prisoners to be rescued. But these obstacles are no problem for Yahweh. It highlights the extreme, siege-like conditions of their punishment. Assyrian accounts of sieges describe the desperation of the besieged people.

Yahweh’s victory will prove that He is the true God of Israel. The use of this recognition formula is likely meant to evoke the traditions of the first exodus, where it was used extensively.The title “Mighty One of Jacob” derives from Genesis 49:24. Isaiah uses the variation “Mighty One of Israel” in Isaiah 1:24. Faithlife Study Bible

Psalm 132:2

How he swore to the LORD,

And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

Isaiah 25:9

And it will be said in that day:“Behold, this is our God;

We have waited for Him, and He will save us.

This is the LORD;

We have waited for Him;

We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”

Isaiah 43:3

For I am the LORD your God,

The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

I gave Egypt for your ransom,

Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

Jeremiah 50:34

Their Redeemer is strong;

The LORD of hosts is His name.

He will thoroughly plead their case,

That He may give rest to the land,

And disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
