Acts 23:6–9

It seems that there was and always will be dissension in the Body of Christ about our righteousness and earning the favor of God. But the truth of Jesus and the salvation that He offers to mankind is the only way to the Father. We can respect each others difference because Jesus made it clear in John 3:16 that whoever believes in Him will share everlasting life with Him for eternity. In the end…that is the only thing that matters.

There is no man worthy of the gift that is offered…no one. It is only because of the righteous act of Jesus Christ that we can stand before our God.

God is holy and we are not.

Our lives should be a reflection of His agape love for the world that He created. In humility we know that it is nothing to do with our righteousness  and everything to do with His. We were created for good works! Holy Spirit will guide us and He will get us safely home.

Thank you for Your word that points us to the Living Word who is alive within us and the water of the word cleansing us and refreshing us as we read.  You have sealed and daily fill us with Your Holy Spirit to lead and guide us on our journey to know You and to walk with You each day through the good days and the difficult and messy ones too. May our lives glorify You as we journey remembering You are with us always, even to the end of the Age. Helen @First5

That which can be used for hurt and pain, can be redeemed and used for reconciliation.

John Lewis (who died July 17, 2020) left some awfully big shoes to fill. But a word of encouragement. And some advice about filling them; “Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Do not become bitter or hostile. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. We will find a way to make a way out of no way. Acts 23:6–9

6 But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!” 7 And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided. 8 For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection—and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both. 9 Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees’ party arose and protested, saying, “We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.” The New King James Version

The Sadducees were the ruling religious class in Judaea in the first-century ad. The Pharisees were devoted to the practice and teaching of the law.

The Sadducees rejected the notion of a resurrection of the dead; the Pharisees believed in it. The Pharisees support Paul and condemn the Sadducees at the same time. Faithlife Study Bible

The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection of the dead, miracles, life after death, or the existence of angels. On the other hand, the Pharisees believed in the supernatural and affirmed the very things the Sadducees denied. The NKJV Study Bible

The Pharisees were correct in the faith of the Jewish church. The Sadducees were no friends to the Scripture or Divine revelation; they denied a future state; they had neither hope of eternal happiness, nor dread of eternal misery. When called in question for his being a Christian, Paul might truly say he was called in question for the hope of the resurrection of the dead. It was justifiable in him, by this profession of his opinion on that disputed point, to draw off the Pharisees from persecuting him, and to lead them to protect him from this unlawful violence. How easily can God defend his own cause! Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Matthew 22:23 The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,

Mark 12:18 Then some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him; and they asked Him, saying:

Luke 20:27 Then some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,

Acts 22:7 And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’

Acts 22:17 “Now it happened, when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I was in a trance
