1 Corinthians 5:12

It is not up to us to judge non believers God does but it is up to us judge the actions of those who are. We are to be as wise as serpents but as gentle as a dove. Not everyone who says Lord, Lord will enter into His Kingdom but those who are doers and not just hearers of His Word.

This passage opens a very slippery slope for Christians. Jesus deplored sin but always forgave the sinner calling them to sin no more. He also sternly called to account self righteous believers who judged others but were guilty of the same sins. The church’s responsibility is to discipline its members while trusting the Lord to judge the world.

Correction is always to be filtered through love with the ultimate goal…..change! Love covers a multitude of sin.

1 Corinthians 5:12
12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13 But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.”

And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you.

1 Corinthians 5:2
