Throughout the new and old testament sharing the gifts that the Father has given us is a command. Are we a Christian nation? We need to care for those who are unable to care for themselves....it is not called socialism it is called Christianity! Read the Book of Acts.
The rich man desired relief from his suffering. The standard by which the rich man treated others was applied to him. In his lifetime he lacked compassion, so now there was no compassion for him.
Luke 16:24-25
24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.
