Colossians 3:16-17 In everything, with thanks, do all in the name of Jesus!

In all that we have been given, every talent, every spiritual gift, we give thanks to the One who created them. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus to use our gifts for our good and His glory.

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

God resist the proud but He gives grace to the humble. Only under the guidance of Holy Spirit can we resist the power of evil that wants to kill, steal and destroy God’s children. As we humble ourselves under the direction and guidance of Holy Spirit He is able to mold and shape us into the person we were created to be. The whole of our lives, with  all of our talents, were given to us by our heavenly Father. Be doers and not just hearers of God’s word and rest in the peace that He gives to those who trust in Him.

Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

We believe in the power of the Sprit to direct our lives. In order for God to work in our life we must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who believe in Him. We have a special place in God and can ask Him for understanding in the spiritual and the physical things that pertain to life. The very Spirit of God resides in believers.

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not!

We would not have known the depth of sin in our lives until Holy Spirit convicted us. We are being transformed daily by the indwelling of Holy Spirit into the image of His Son.

Malachi 3:7 Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts.

Man cannot overcome evil BUT God can. When we return to Him He welcomes us with open arms.

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Jesus warns us that unbelief is the ultimate sin  because the light of God came into the world and man did not receive it.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

We were born of the flesh and all of us have sinned and fall short of God’s plan for humanity. But we are justified freely by His grace in the gift of salvation in Christ Jesus whom God sent  forth to redeem us from the power of evil. In His righteousness we live and breathe. For God is just and the  justifier of those who choose to believe in Jesus, in His  gift of salvation and eternal life with Him.

Colossians 3:16-17

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. The New King James Version

Word of Christ refers either to the gospel message about Christ or to Christ’s teaching (as opposed to human philosophies or traditions. Faithlife Study Bible

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly is apparently a parallel thought to Paul’s statement in Ephesians  5:18 where he says to be “filled with the Spirit.”

In this verse, Paul sums up how Christians should live. We should commit everything we do or say to Jesus and continually thank God for all His good gifts (see Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14). The NKJV Study Bible

The gospel is the word of Christ. Many have the word, but it dwells in them poorly; it has no power over them. The soul prospers, when we are full of the Scriptures and of the grace of Christ.

Whatever we are employed about, let us do every thing in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in believing dependence on him. Those who do all in Christ’s name, will never want matter of thanksgiving to God, even the Father. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

We have access to God through Jesus no matter where we are or what we face (John 1:12-14). God will hear our prayers when we seek Him in our times of trouble (Deuteronomy 4:7; Psalm 145:18-19).

As Christ followers, we also have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside us (Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 3:16). Instead of trying to understand and overcome our circumstances through our human wisdom, we can call out to God and trust Him to help us overcome the impossible. First5

In God’s hands, no defeat is a crushing defeat. “The steps of good men are directed by the Lord. He delights in each step that they take. If they fall, it isn’t fatal. For the Lord holds them with his hand” (Psalm 37:23-24 TLB). Miss this truth and miss your new beginning. You must believe that God’s grace is greater than your failures. Max Lucado
