Luke 21:25-28

We will see the return of the Son of Man in power to save the world from self destruction. Each member of the Body of Christ is vital and shares in the spread of the Good News of salvation and the care of the Church.

His truth will be revealed.

His glory will be everlasting.

No work of our own can save us; salvation comes by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Kent Nerburn “Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance, and none can say while some fields will blossom and others lay brown beneath the August sun. Care for those around you. Look past your differences. Their dreams are no less than yours, their choices in life no more easily made. And give. Give in any way you can, of whatever you possess. To give is to love. To withhold is to wither. Care less for your harvest than how is shared, and your life will have meaning and your heart will have peace.” Sabbath Moments

“Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor and Martha served…” (John 12:2 NIV).

Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were like family to Jesus. After the Lord raised Lazarus from the dead, they decided to give a dinner for Jesus, and Martha served. Listen, every church needs Marthas. Every church needs a hundred Marthas – sleeves rolled up and ready, they keep the pace for the church. You don’t appreciate Marthas until a Martha is missing, and then all the Marys and Lazaruses are scrambling around looking for the keys and the thermostats. Marthas don’t seek the spotlight; they don’t live off the applause. If Marthas have a weakness, it is their tendency to elevate the mission over the Master. A younger Martha did that, but a mature Martha learned that just as there is a place in the kingdom of God for sacrificial service, there is also a place for extravagant praise. Max Lucado

Luke 21:25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near. The New King James Version

The book of Daniel describes a messianic figure like a son of man receiving an everlasting kingdom. Jesus applies this tradition to Himself—the risen Messiah at His glorious return. Faithlife Study Bible

Jesus shifts His focus to the end times with His second mention of cosmic turmoil. The terror of cosmic chaos will cause apprehension about what is coming. The Son of Man coming in a cloud is a  reference to the authoritative return of Jesus.

Jesus viewed this text in terms of an apocalyptic deliverance. The image of the cloud is important, since God is identified as riding the clouds in the Old Testament. The Son of Man has divine authority to judge the world. Redemption draws near is the sign of the deliverance of Jesus’ followers. The Son of Man acts on behalf of those who have suffered in His name.  The NKJV Study Bible

The scattered Jews around us preach the truth of Christianity; and prove, that though heaven and earth shall pass away, the words of Jesus shall not pass away. They also remind us to pray for those times when neither the real, nor the spiritual Jerusalem, shall any longer be trodden down by the Gentiles, and when both Jews and Gentiles shall be turned to the Lord. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Isaiah 13:10 For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.

Daniel 7:13I was watching in the night visions, and behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him.

Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Matthew 24:29Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Romans 8:23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.
