God, in His holiness,  cannot dwell in a place of sin. Are we not the temple of the Lord? Does the Holy Spirit live inside of us? God will purge the sin from our lives taking the very sin that was meant to destroy us and separate us from Him, replacing it with His values, His love and His mercy. We are a chosen people living in the land of Egypt. We cannot call good evil nor evil good.

Keep your eyes focused on Christ alone!

Provoke indicates willful, stubborn rebellion against God, which roused His anger. NKJ Bible.

Jeremiah 44:7–8 (NKJV)
“Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Why do you commit this great evil against yourselves, to cut off from you man and woman, child and infant, out of Judah, leaving none to remain, in that you provoke Me to wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have gone to dwell, that you may cut yourselves off and be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

Numbers 16:38 (NKJV)
38 The censers of these men who sinned against their own souls, let them be made into hammered plates as a covering for the altar. Because they presented them before the Lord, therefore they are holy; and they shall be a sign to the children of Israel.”

1 Kings 9:8 (NKJV)

And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and will hiss, and say, ‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’
