John 21:7-8

God sees the heart of a person! He loves passion and abhors complacency and even when we make huge mistakes, like David or Peter, He will turn those things around and use them for His good and the good of His Church. He respected John's unbridled love and Peter's fire....He would make good use of both.

John was the first to recognize the Lord; Peter was the first to act. Though Peter often made bad decisions, he had zeal that would eventually be channeled to good use.

John 21:7-8

⁷ Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.
