Psalm 313
For You are my rock and my fortress;
Therefore, for Your name’s sake,
Lead me and guide me. (NKJV)
Our trust is in You Lord. You alone are the Redeemer of the world. Restore us in the love that You have for Your creation. In You healing lies and joy in our salvation is our strength. Love, joy and inner peace are not visible to the human eye but they are far more valuable and they are eternal. His love for us is everlasting. Carla
Psalm 30:5
For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning. (NKJV)
Possibly David judges his illness to be in some way related to God’s anger. For a sick person, nothing is so long as a painful, sleepless night; few things are as desired as the coming of morning. The NKJV Study Bible
While Yahweh’s anger (aph) lasts only for a short period of time (Isaiah 54:7), His favor (ratson) is permanent. Faithlife Study Bible
Psalm 103:9
He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
2 Corinthians 4:17–18
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Isaiah 54:7–8
“For a mere moment I have forsaken you,
But with great mercies I will gather you.
With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment;
But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,
“Says the LORD, your Redeemer.
Isaiah 26:20
Come, my people, enter your chambers,
And shut your doors behind you;
Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment,
Until the indignation is past.
Psalm 63:3
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
In a book I am reading, I smiled at this sentence, “she was reclaiming herself, alive in her own skin.” Yes, that’s it. Unabashed in a skin (a self) that feels, values, honors, esteems, loves, fears, desires, hopes for, believes in, and commits to. With nothing to earn or prove, because life isn’t a race or a contest or a beauty pageant.
And please know this: it is from this self—the broken or wounded self—that compassion and kindness and tenderness and empathy and healing and reconciliation can flow to the world around us.
We spill light from those places in our life.
