Hebrews 3:16–19 Jesus came in the flesh to die for the sins of the world

The only way to stop the work of salvation is to reject Jesus who came in the flesh. We must know that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. The Godhead allowed the suffering of Jesus for the sake of humanity. We will never fully understand the pain that was endured for our sakes. Jesus is the only way to God any other path ends in destruction.  John 3:16-18

Hebrews 3:16–19

16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. The New King James Version

1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

We are to test the spirits! those that confess that Jesus came to the world in the flesh are teaching the truth. Jesus, the anointed of God, was born of the virgin Mary, He suffered under Pontious Pilate, He died and was buried. He rose again by the power of Holy Spirit. He will come again in fulfillment of the Scriptures. Those who profess this  are the true followers of Jesus the Christ. If they do not, they are not of God, those teachings are those of the anti-christ.

2 Timothy 1:13-17

although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

Hold fast to the teachings of the Gospel of Grace. Jesus came to save sinners and we are all sinners in need of a Savior. There is no one righteous. No one deserving. No one that merits the salvation that God offers to those who believe in Jesus. Carla

In Psalm 95, the disobedience refers primarily to the rebellion at Kadesh, but the usage here could pertain to the defiance of all Israel. The Israelites complained that they rather would have died in Egypt or the wilderness than be killed fighting for the promised land. God vowed that the unfaithful generation would die in the wilderness. The Israelites disobeyed Yahweh by turning away from Him. Faithlife Study Bible

The author of Hebrews speaks of the Israelites’ unbelief as sin and disobedience. The Israelites did not enter God’s rest, the Promised Land, because they did not believe in God’s promises to them. They failed to possess their inheritance because they did not trust in God. The Jewish Christians to whom this letter was addressed were in danger of following in their ancestors’ footsteps. They were tempted to doubt the words of Jesus. With the rhetorical questions in these verses, the author of Hebrews was encouraging them to place their faith firmly in Christ. The NKJV Study Bible

Numbers 14:1–39 So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness…

Deuteronomy 1:34–38 “And the LORD heard the sound of your words, and was angry, and took an oath, saying, ‘Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see that good land of which I swore to give to your fathers…

Hebrews 4:6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,

John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

On the road to Damascus, Jesus appeared in a bright light from heaven and asked, "'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? ' And [Saul] said, 'Who are you, Lord? ' And he said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting'" (Acts 9:4-5). Later, scales fell from Paul's eyes as he saw the truth about Jesus. He was filled with the Holy Spirit and baptized (Acts 9:17-18).

Jesus' grace and mercy transformed the worst of sinners into a mighty warrior of the faith - and Jesus is still transforming hearts today. First 5

This week, we are learning to practice Rabbi Eizik’s wisdom, that “the place where this treasure can be found is the place on which one stands. (Martin Buber)”

We may love this, but there is no simple list here.

Again, from Martin Buber, “Where is the dwelling of God?” This was the question with which the Rabbi of Kotzk surprised a number of learned men who happened to be visiting him.  They laughed at him: “What a thing to ask! Is not the whole world full of His glory?”

Then he answered his own question: “God dwells wherever man lets Him in.”

"This is the ultimate purpose: to let God in. But we can let God in only where we really stand, where we live, where we live a true life. If we maintain holy intercourse with the little world entrusted to us, if we help the holy spiritual substance to accomplish itself in that section of Creation in which we are living, then we are establishing, in this our place, a dwelling for the Divine Presence." We forget how significant one touch can be. We fear saying the wrong thing, or using the wrong tone, or acting the wrong way. So rather than do it incorrectly, we do nothing at all. Aren’t we glad Jesus didn’t make the same mistake? Jesus touched the untouchables of the world. Will you do the same? Max Lucado
