Proverbs 12:11

God’s plan for man was to provide each of us with special talents and then for us to use those talents to support ourselves. God never intended man to sit idle and do nothing. High unemployment, disabilities, age or sickness can stop a person from using those gifts; then it is our obligation to step in and help those who through no fault of their own cannot support themselves.

Many proverbs contrast hard work with laziness. Wise people work hard while fools waste time.

12:11 He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread,

But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding
