The Book of Titus "grace, mercy and peace in Christ"

Jesus will restore the perfect world that was created before the fall of mankind in Adam. The Holy Spirit is a witness and said that this was the covenant that I will make with Israel that after those days I will put the law in their hearts and I will remember their sins no more.

Hebrew 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. 15 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, 16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” 17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Psalms 110:1 The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”

The Messiah was prophesied thousands of years  before His coming. In Psalms 110:1 The Father told Him to sit at His right hand until I make your enemies your footstool. He will come again in glory!!

Jesus was a minister to the circumcision. He would be their Messiah, Savior and  King. In His Kingdom there will be no sin. The lion will lay down with the lamb and suffering will not exist.

Luke 1:67 Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying: 68 “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people, 69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David, 70 As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began, 71 That we should be saved from our enemies And from the hand of all who hate us, 72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers And to remember His holy covenant, 73 The oath which He swore to our father Abraham: 74 To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear, 75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.

The Jews at His first coming rejected Jesus but the time will come that they will see the One they crucified and mourn Him as an only Son.  Jesus came to give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins.

Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers, 9 and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy, as it is written: “For this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles, And sing to Your name.” 10 And again he says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!” 11 And again: “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!” 12 And again, Isaiah says: “There shall be a root of Jesse; And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, In Him the Gentiles shall hope.”

Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God to fulfill the promises made to the fathers. He will always remember His holy covenant made with Abraham. God has always protected the Jews. His promises are sure. The Jew was scattered into all nations to proclaim the power of God to save those who make covenant with Him.

The whole world has been and will continue to be blessed in the covenant made to Abraham. In Him the world will be blessed.

Titus

As in his other letters, Paul’s greeting refers to the grace, mercy, and peace that are available from both God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (1:4). And the reason Paul refers to them as a unit is because of his unflappable belief that Jesus is one with the Father. In Titus 2:13 Paul refers to Him as “our great God and Savior.” Obviously that is not unique to this letter, but it is noteworthy. So is the way Paul calls attention to Jesus being the “blessed hope” who has yet to return to earth in a “glorious appearing.” Paul beautifully describes the Savior’s redemptive work on our behalf: Jesus is the One “who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works” (2:14-15). Certainly Titus got the message. The NKJV Study Bible

1:4 To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. 15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you. The New King James Version

Who gave Himself for us refers to Christ’s violent and sacrificial death. Paul reminds the believers in Crete of the price and purpose of God’s redemption. The Greek word used here, lytroō, means “to release” or “set free,” especially from slavery. Paul echoes the description of God’s people in the old testament (Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 7:6) Inheritance refers to deeds done for the benefit of others. Good deeds are not a means to salvation; rather, they are the appropriate response to God’s redemptive work in Christ. Faithlife Study Bible

Redeem means “to purchase.” With His death on the Cross, Christ paid the price to release us from the bondage of sin to which every unbeliever is a slave. God’s purpose in redeeming us is not only to save us from hell; He also wants to free us from sin so that we can produce good works that glorify Him. The NKJV Study Bible

Blessed hope refers to the anticipation of the return of Jesus Christ. The foundation of Christian hope is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. By anticipating His return, the believers in Crete acknowledge that He lives and has victory over death. In setting themselves apart for God, they reveal for unbelievers a glimpse of life in God’s kingdom—life in the age to come. Our great God and Savior refers to the second coming of Christ. This designation identifies Jesus with God.

The appearance of the grace of God is to produce two results in the lives of believers: First, we are to resist the evil temptations of this world, living godly lives in this present age. Second, we are to look for Christ’s return. Paul reminded Timothy that there is a special crown awaiting “all who have loved His appearing.”. Our great God and Savior Jesus Christ: This is one of the strongest statements of the deity of Christ in the New Testament. The NKJV Study Bible

2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ,To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

1 Corinthians 1:7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

Acts 23:6 But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”

1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,
