Jeremiah 32:26–41

Only through the blood of Jesus Christ can mankind stand before  our holy God. He sees the perfect sacrifice of  His only begotten Son, Jesus, instead of fallen, sinful man. Without Jesus we are without hope.

Grace, unmerited, undeserved, from the Creator of heaven and earth.

Jeremiah 31:33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

When love is the compass for our actions, we will not be self-seeking or insist on our own way (1 Corinthians 13:5). Pursuing love is the outflow of our relationship with Jesus because God is love (1 John 4:8). Unlike the Corinthians, Jesus was never about building Himself up, even though He was the Son of God. In fact, He lowered Himself by becoming a man and humbled Himself by obediently dying a criminal's death on the cross for us (Philippians 2:5-8). Every word spoken and every action taken by Jesus always pointed others to His heavenly Father.

Finally, Revelation 3:14 calls Jesus Himself "the Amen." The Son came in the flesh and became the Father's "amen" or "yes" to every prophecy written in the Old Testament (2 Corinthians 1:20). May our response to Him be awestruck humility as we all proclaim in all our languages, "Worthy is the Lamb. Amen." First5

The good news is, the psalmist David. “I have a secret to tell you,” he whispers, “the secret of satisfaction.” From Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” David found a place where discontent goes to die. It’s as if he’s saying, “What I have in God is greater than what I don’t have in this life.” Think you and I could learn to say the same? Mac Lucado

Jeremiah 32:26–41

26 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, 27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me? 28 Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it. 29 And the Chaldeans who fight against this city shall come and set fire to this city and burn it, with the houses on whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke Me to anger; 30 because the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only evil before Me from their youth. For the children of Israel have provoked Me only to anger with the work of their hands,’ says the Lord. 31 ‘For this city has been to Me a provocation of My anger and My fury from the day that they built it, even to this day; so I will remove it from before My face 32 because of all the evil of the children of Israel and the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke Me to anger—they, their kings, their princes, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33 And they have turned to Me the back, and not the face; though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction. 34 But they set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to defile it. 35 And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.’ 36 “Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say, ‘It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. 38 They shall be My people, and I will be their God; 39 then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me. 41 Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and with all My soul.’ The New King James Version

Yahweh’s response to Jeremiah’s prayer concludes with an emphasis on the renewed covenant, future restoration of the land, and the future prosperity of the people. Faithlife Study Bible

God was Lord over Israel and Judah, and Lord over the nations—including mighty Babylon.

This exhaustive list indicates the rebellion of the entire nation against God.

This verse serves as a summary of the situation in Jerusalem, described by the regular triad of devastation: sword …famine … pestilence.

Because the Lord had written on the heart of the people a New Covenant, no longer would they worship other deities and turn to foreign nations for help.

The word way is often used in Jeremiah to denote the character of a person’s life, whether evil or good. To fear God is to submit to His sovereign majesty and walk according to His way.

The expression everlasting covenant is also found in Isaiah. 55:3; Ezekiel 16:60. In Ezekiel it is equated with a “covenant of peace” that God will establish with His people. This covenant will be everlasting, unlike the Sinai covenant which had been broken and ignored for so long.

My fear in their hearts is a phrase closely paralleled in meaning and purpose that of the New Covenant. This term from Jeremiah’s call depicts God establishing His people back in their homeland with a restoration of peace and prosperity. My heart and My soul describe God’s total devotion of heart, will, and emotions to His faithful children. The NKJV Study Bible

Leviticus 18:21 And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.

Jeremiah 7:30 For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight,” says the LORD. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it.

Jeremiah 7:31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into My heart.

Jeremiah 24:7 Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.
