Nahum 3:5-7

God will not always tolerate sin in those who call on Him for salvation.

We will learn our lessons. Gods’ way or the hard way through trial and persecution.

Spiritual Freedom is not free. It cost the life of His only begotten Son.

Nahum 3:5-7

5 “Behold, I am against you,” says the Lord of hosts;

“I will lift your skirts over your face,

I will show the nations your nakedness,

And the kingdoms your shame.

6 I will cast abominable filth upon you,

Make you vile,

And make you a spectacle.

7 It shall come to pass that all who look upon you

Will flee from you, and say,

‘Nineveh is laid waste!

Who will bemoan her?’

Where shall I seek comforters for you?”

The Lord of hosts identifies God as the leader of the heavenly armies. Nakedness and exposure to public shame and ridicule was a typical punishment for infidelity or prostitution. the prophet describes people shaking their heads in mourning or grief. Faithlife Bible.

I am against you, this repetition of the phrase is more chilling each time it is heard. Who could survive the Lord’s opposition? The Lord would publicly humiliate Nineveh. The Lord described the fate of Nineveh as comparable to a person on whom unspeakable filth was cast. When Nineveh lay in ruins, no one would bemoan her. The nations would be glad that the city was gone. NKJ Bible.

When proud sinners are brought down, others should learn not to lift themselves up. The fall of this great city should be a lesson to private persons, who increase wealth by fraud and oppression. They are preparing enemies for themselves; and if the Lord sees good to punish them in this world, they will have none to pity them. Every man who seeks his own prosperity, safety, and peace, should not only act in an upright, honourable manner, but with kindness to all. Matthew Henry Commentary.

Deuteronomy 28:25  “The LORD will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them; and you shall become troublesome to all the kingdoms of the earth.

Deuteronomy 28:37  And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations where the LORD will drive you.

Isaiah 47:3  Your nakedness shall be uncovered,Yes, your shame will be seen; I will take vengeance, and I will not arbitrate with a man.”

Jeremiah 13:26  Therefore I will uncover your skirts over your face, that your shame may appear.

Nahum 2:13  “Behold, I am against you,” says the LORD of hosts, “I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more.”
