Acts 13:26-33

The Jewish leadership created a mob mentality and even those who would not ordinarily condemn an innocent man to death screamed “Let Him be crucified!” Someday they will come to the full realization of the part they willingly played in the coming of their Savior…and every knee shall bow and all tongues confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!

Jesus, the fulfillment of Scriptures!

From the beginning of time He was. He is now. and He will always be. World without end. Amen.

The Jerusalem religious leaders’ ignorance of who Jesus was fulfills Scripture. Paul does not use the typical Greek word for a cross here; instead, he refers to a tree. This alludes to Deuteronomy 21:22–23, which proclaims God’s curse against anyone who was executed in such a way. Faithlife Bible.

Deuteronomy 21:22–23 (NKJV)
22 “If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, 23 his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.

Acts 13:26–33 (NKJV)
26 Men and brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you the word of this salvation has been sent. 27 For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled them in condemning Him. 28 And though they found no cause for death in Him, they asked Pilate that He should be put to death. 29 Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb. 30 But God raised Him from the dead. 31 He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. 32 And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers. 33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.’

Matthew 27:22 (NKJV)
22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?”
They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”

Matthew 27:23 (NKJV)
23 Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?”
But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”

Matthew 27:59 (NKJV)
59 When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

Matthew 27:60 (NKJV)
60 and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.
