We need to actively pursue God’s holiness.
Our actions to do what is fair and right, in keeping with His commandments to love Him above all and others as we do ourselves, honors the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is all about his righteousness not ours.
Since keeping the Sabbath revealed clear commitment to the Lord, it was closely associated with righteousness and justice.
God’s salvation is always near.
Isaiah 56:1-2
56 Thus says the Lord:
“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Matthew 4:17
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
Romans 13:12
20 hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.’
Ezekiel 20:20
