Jeremiah 29:7

No matter what the condition of the city, state or country is where God has placed you, you need to pray for its’ peace and prosperity. When others around you are at peace, you will have peace!

The exiles were instructed to seek and pray for the peace, or well-being, of Babylon and the other towns where they were deported. As a result, they themselves would live in peace as beneficiaries of God’s gracious sovereignty over the nations.

20:7 And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.
