Psalm 106:8-12 and 44-48

How quickly man forgets the miraculous gift of salvation that the Father gives them. Knowing from the beginning that they would betray Him He came to earth to save them anyway. It cost us nothing but to believe by faith in the power of Jesus to give up His life so that God sees the Word made flesh in us. The greatest sacrifices in life are never free and it cost the life of God’s only begotten Son to save ours. Our triumph comes when we will hear “well done my good and faithful servant”.

Remember God’s mercies are new each and everyday and treasure this love that is beyond our capabilities of understanding which gives us an eternal, abundant life….return to Him He has never left you.

Praise be to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

All but a remnant had forgotten the miracle of the parting of the sea and had turned to foreign gods who have no power to save…then they cried out to God to save them from their bad choices. How true even today. But He is ever merciful to forgive and to restore when we call on Him in true contrition for all we have done and failed to do.

contrition |kənˈtriSHən|
noun
the state of feeling remorseful and penitent.
ORIGIN Middle English: via Old French from late Latin contritio(n-), from contrit- ‘ground down,’ from the verb conterere (see contrite) .

God knew that His people would be faithless repeatedly, yet He saved them for His name’s sake.Though the people had been faithless, the Lord was still their God. If they would return to Him, they would have a home in His mercy and a promise of eventual triumph.

Psalm 106:8-12 and 44-48
8 Nevertheless He saved them for His name’s sake,
That He might make His mighty power known.
9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it dried up;
So He led them through the depths,
As through the wilderness.
10 He saved them from the hand of him who hated them,
And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 The waters covered their enemies;
There was not one of them left.
12 Then they believed His words;
They sang His praise.

44 Nevertheless He regarded their affliction,
When He heard their cry;
45 And for their sake He remembered His covenant,
And relented according to the multitude of His mercies.
46 He also made them to be pitied
By all those who carried them away captive.
47 Save us, O Lord our God,
And gather us from among the Gentiles,
To give thanks to Your holy name,
To triumph in Your praise.
48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel
From everlasting to everlasting!
And let all the people say, “Amen!”

11Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying: “Where is He who brought them up out of the sea With the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them, 12Who led them by the right hand of Moses, With His glorious arm, Dividing the water before them To make for Himself an everlasting name, 13Who led them through the deep, As a horse in the wilderness, That they might not stumble?”
Isaiah 63:11–13

10 And the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, saying, “We have sinned against You, because we have both forsaken our God and served the Baals!”
Judges 10:10

18 And when the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them.
Judges 2:18

For if you return to the Lord, your brethren and your children will be treated with compassion by those who lead them captive, so that they may come back to this land; for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn His face from you if you return to Him.”
2 Chronicles 30:9

16 But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.

Exodus 9:16
