Out of God’s compassion and mercy we are not destroyed. So He sent Jesus, the Good Shepherd, that whoever would believe in Him would be saved. God knows our past, our present and our future and who will accept His gift of salvation. He knows who are His. The world will stand until that last man hears the truth and accepts His invitation of eternal life with His Maker.
It is up to us to get the Good News of the Gospel to that man.
The Gospels record several times that when Jesus saw a need He was moved with compassion. That compassion led to action.
Mark 6:34
34 And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.
2 He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness.
Hebrews 5:2
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to 1heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness,iThe planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
Isaiah 61:1–3
2For the idols speak delusion; The diviners envision lies, And tell false dreams; They comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; They are in trouble because there is no shepherd.
Zechariah 10:2
11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.
Luke 9:11
