Let's Pray Together as Women of Welcome

Do you want to protect the persecuted? If we say we care about persecuted Christians, our policies should reflect that care. Nigeria was once again listed as a country of particular concern for religious persecution last week, but refugee admissions for those fleeing persecution were just set at a historic low for the upcoming fiscal year. As people of faith, we can remind our leaders that words of concern aren’t enough. We must hold the door open for those seeking safety. Take 3 minutes for 3 actions and add your voice today

Pregnant. Shackled. Ignored.Recent reports show ICE is detaining pregnant and postpartum women against federal policy. One woman was left bleeding for hours during a miscarriage. Another, placed in solitary confinement, cried herself to sleep every night. Their stories are gut-wrenching and tragically, not unique. Christ calls us to love the vulnerable. So, how will we respond? Let us not look away. Share this story to shine a light, and pray with us for women still detained in these conditions. Their dignity matters.

Dignity is on the table. Mass deportation plans are real threats to real families. Millions of children could be separated from parents who’ve lived here for over a decade. But there’s another way. The Dignity Act offers a practical, bipartisan solution, allowing immigrants with deep roots and clean records to earn legal status without fear of being torn from their families. Dignity is on the table. This act could offer a real path forward. Want to speak up with compassion and confidence? Visit this explainer to learn more about what’s in the Dignity Act. Then, use this easy tool to contact your lawmakers, asking them to support dignity for immigrants in our communities.. It only takes a minute, and it matters more than you think.

Let's Pray Together:

  • Please pray for the thousands of international adoptees who were raised by U.S. citizen parents but never received citizenship due to a legal gap. Ask God to open doors, move hearts, and make a way for their legal identity to reflect the families and country they’ve always called home.

  • Join us in prayer for peace and protection in immigrant communities where fear and confusion can grow from impersonations of ICE officers. Ask God to bring clarity, safety, and wisdom, for both those doing the work of enforcement and for the families trying to navigate it all with courage.

  • "Our beautiful country that has been filled with your families from all over your world for generations, we humbly ask your help in continuing to welcome people in need so that our wonderful abundance can be shared.Help us to care for one another, to be sensitive to those already present, and to spread your marvelous gifts among our sisters and brothers. With open hearts, hands to help and gratitude for your blessings, we pray for your assistance, guidance and strength. Amen."-  Celeste Day
William Wilberforce says, “You may choose to look the other way, but you can never again say that you did not know.” This quote stings a little—and that’s okay. Conviction can be holy ground. What we see, we’re responsible for. And what we know, we’re invited to respond to with grace, courage, and action.

We’ve seen the plight of our refugee brothers and sisters, fleeing dangerous homes when they would rather stay. We know the fear of our immigrant neighbors, who are seeking a place to call home and a community to love them. We cannot say we did not know. Let's remember in our prayers and show it in our actions this week.

With you,
The Women of Welcome Team
