We have a voice!!! We can use it to represent our compassionate, merciful Father who cared enough about the world that He created to send us Jesus. As His ambassadors we love God and ALL our neighbors just like He commanded us to!

CBS News’ local affiliate in Miami, Florida reported on troubling allegations from detainees held in an immigrant detention facility known as “Alligator Alcatraz.” President Donald Trump, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis visited the newly-constructed facility in the Florida Everglades last week.
Detainees claim they faced 24-hour lighting, extreme heat, mosquito infestations, insufficient food, maggots in meals, lack of bathing facilities and access to medication, and were even denied access to Bibles and religious materials.
One detainee alleged that his Bible had been confiscated, saying an official had told him that his “right to religion” did not apply in the facility. Others described 24-hour lights that make it impossible to sleep, a lack of bathing facilities and access to medication, enormous mosquitos and being served just one meal daily that was infested with maggots.
Why This Matters:
As evangelical women, we believe all people are made in God’s image, and even individuals in civil detention deserve respect, humane conditions, and freedom to practice their faith. Confiscating Bibles and denying religious expression strikes at the heart of religious liberty—something we all hold dear. With the recent surge in immigration detention funding (from $3.4B to $45B), there’s a higher risk that non‑criminal, vulnerable individuals—including faithful Christians—may face harsh treatment as well.
