Mark 8:34-38

Conforming to the standards of society in order to achieve success or popularity brings with it spiritual death. We cannot please the world nor be eye candy for it and do what is right and just in the eyes of God. Sometimes we all are hypocrites, saying one thing and meaning quite another, but the truth remains the same. We need to do the right thing for the right reasons........God’s way not man’s. Keep in mind that Jesus is the Word of God made flesh and we need to heed His command by loving God with our whole heart, mind and spirit and loving others as much as we love ourselves...tough job in this day and age!

To preserve one’s life eternally, one must surrender earthly possessions and relationships held so dearly. Those who are willing to confess Him today will be rewarded before the Father in heaven. 

Mark 8:34-38

³⁴ When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ³⁵ For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. ³⁶ For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? ³⁷ Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? ³⁸ For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
